bio:
Scott
Davis was born in 1944 in Washington DC…………he was raised in
Kansas and at 18 joined the Navy and consequently served 3 tours in Viet
Nam.
He took
advantage of the GI Bill and did undergraduate work at Cal State
San Berdardino and Graduate work at UC Davis. Was invited to
participate in the Whitney Studio program which led to a move to
New York City after graduation in 1974.
Sometimes he describes his work as a combination of Haiku Poetry
and Shaker furniture and the sensibilities of Duchamp and Morandi
are also influential in his development.
Commercial success was
limited but critical success wasn’t. His work has been reviewed in the LA
Times, the New York Times, and Art in America magazine. Scott moved to
Maine in 1993. Since that time he has developed a new body of work.
