biography
Michael Waterman was born in 1947 in Portland,
Maine. By the age of four, he was painting in the studio of his father,
Portland artist Alfred Waterman. He had participated in many solo and
group exhibits and received a commission to produce a 75 foot mural before
he finished high school. He won several art awards in school and received
scholarships to study at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn and the Arts Students
League in New York City. By the age of 19, he had exhibited in a gallery
on 57th Street in Manhattan. In 1967, he returned to Portland
and has continued to exhibit and produce commissions for over 30 years.
Waterman has been showing with Aucocisco since 1998.
