Bio:
b.1975, Towson, MD
Lauren is an artist and
curator who currently resides in Portland, Maine. She has exhibited her
artwork nationally including recent shows at the Jordan Schnitzer Museum
of Art, the Bakalar Gallery at MassArt, , the Edward Bannister Gallery at
Rhode Island College, The Center For Maine Contemporary Art, the Portland
Museum of Art, The DUMBO Art Center in Brooklyn, NY, The John Michael
Kohler Art Center; The Albany International Airport, and the Boston Center
for the Arts. Her work is currently on view in the exhibition “The
Thinking Body” at The San Francisco Museum of Craft and Design and is the
subject of “Parterre” a major solo exhibition at The Bowdoin College
Museum of Art through Jan 2009, with an accompanying catalog.
Outside the studio, Lauren is the Interim Director of the Institute of
Contemporary Art at Maine College of Art. Her current freelance
curatorial project AFI will be featured at the Benaki Museum in
Athens, Greece in Spring 2009. Lauren is also a published writer who was
formerly a contributing regional editor at Art New England
Magazine and Associate Editor of Arts Guide Portland. She holds
degrees from the Parsons School of Design (BFA 1997) and SUNY New Paltz
(MFA 2000). |
