statement:
My current work is a
distillation of the things I care about. I have always been attracted to
lines and shapes, to abstract understanding of the essential nature of
things, and to the severe logic of the economy of means.
My accumulated experience has been to learn what I need and what I do not,
what are the essentials of life and art. In my work, this means line and
shape. I work with the simplest materials - canvas and paint, charcoal and
paper, black and white.
I seek an art that is without rhetoric, fiction or illusion. We can
apprehend shape, scale and line in ways that are resonant, and quite real.
